THE ORDEALS OF

ELLY ROBIN

"The Ordeals of Elly Robin" is a series of historical novels that relates the coming-of-age of a young American girl a century ago.

The protagonist of the series, which spans the years 1906-1918, is a piano prodigy on the level of a young Mozart. Like many so gifted, she is also "different"; reluctant to speak and loath to look people in the eye, she would now be considered to be somewhere on the autism spectrum; back then she was merely "tetched."

Six- years-old as the first volume begins, and billed as "Baby Elly Robin the Wonderchild," she is one of the stars of a vaudeville troupe that is wending its way across the country — and toward a fateful encounter with the Great San Francisco Earthquake. And the sight of the hotel containing her mother and father collapsing before her eyes launches Elly on an epic — and often harrowing — series of adventures.
